Can the hidden areas be recovered?
No. This tool rewrites the actual pixels in the selected areas and saves a new image, so there is no layer to peel back. That's different from drawing a black box in a PDF editor, where the text underneath often survives. For digits and text, use a strong pixelation setting or the black-out mode.
What should I redact before sharing documents?
Follow the recipient's instructions first. Commonly redacted items include Social Security numbers, full account and routing numbers, and driver's license numbers. Don't over-redact — hiding your name or date of birth on an identity document usually gets a submission rejected.
How do I black out text on a picture?
Load the image, switch to the black-out mode, and drag a box over the text. The covered pixels are replaced in the exported file, so unlike a black rectangle drawn in a PDF or slide editor, there is nothing underneath to recover.
Can I blur a face in a photo?
Yes — drag over the face and it is pixelated in place. You can drag several areas in a row to cover more than one person, and raise the strength if features are still recognizable.
